[...] One of the latest articles features Ken Kaplan, (photo), Broadcast and New Media Manager at Intel, who we know quite well now. It is strange for a media, whether it is “new” or “old”, to publish about PR society whom they work with, except for complaining about them. It could be interpreted as a clash of interest, but for once, I wanted to write about one of the great citizens who helps us deliver fresh tech news every day. Marylene’s commentary reflects well Ken’s professionalism and his good understanding of the new PR, read her post here. [...]

I've worked with Ken since his first days at Intel, and what amazes me the most is his complete transformation into a new 'career.' We reward risk-taking at Intel, and while social media is linked to journalism, PR and marketing, it's an entirely new breed of communicating and Ken embraced, and learned it early, and is teaching many of us now. Not all of us would be willing to be at the forefront or embrace entirely new ways of doing things...

Thank you, Marylene, for devoting the time to share some of your intriguing stories. They were the secret to getting me in gear to share my approach to being inside Intel.

I'm delighted to read for the first time the quote by Intel co-founder Robert Noyce: How does the world relate to you? The Noyce saying we know best inside Intel is "Don't be encumbered by history...go off and do something wonderful." That has remained at the core of Intel's culture. It is inspiring even through four decades.

I feel the world changing as more people tap into the wonderful Internet sharing tools we're using more and more every day. What might not be new are the benefits from listening, trying to understand others and sharing knowledge or best known methods. These are the things that I believe will help companies "scale" the use of social media inside and outside their companies. These are beliefs behind the Digital IQ courses and social media guidelines (http://tinyurl.com/6dxley) my pals inside Intel created last year. Individual skills and personalities need to soar, and the results can be enriched, expanded even, when we can work together as a team.

The Zoomorama widget is super cool! Love how you can play a video while zooming in and out of the various photos.

Best wishes!!

After working with Ken for a few years here at Intel, I'd say you captured him pretty darn well here. Ken is always looking to help nudge the rest of us ever-further toward the 'edge of the company.' He's been about a year ahead of many of us in regard to social media for some time now... always patiently encouraging us to move forward. He's a star here, and we're lucky to have him. Thanks for tooting his horn for him - he deserve the kudos!
